Are you of the belief that all humans are artists, too?
My view of 'artist' has gotten even more broad over the years, to the point I've just come to see life as the canvas for our artistry. In constant co-creation with the universe through the act of living, who's to say that's not art?
Of course, to not lose the edges that make art distinct, and for the word 'artist' to still hold meaning, there has to be some boundary, right?
Perhaps artistry isn’t a fixed identity or universal state, but a way of being in relationship with the world. A moment of conscious participation in that creation-- whether that’s through painting, parenting, organizing your neighbourhood, or tending to your grief.
So maybe what I'm really saying is that we all can be artists, but we have to choose it. We have to notice, and engage, and collaborate with the forces around and within us.
